On Thursday, October 6th, I participated in the ribbon cutting at the England Run Library for “The Lentine Coffee Shop.” I hope you will have a chance to go to the library and, while there, have a cup of coffee, tea or one of their home-baked desserts or pastries. We wish great success to “Lentine Coffee.”
On Tuesday, September 21, we broke ground on the newest section of the Belmont-Ferry Farm Trails.. This new trail will create recreational opportunities for our citizens and visitors by connecting parks, the Stafford Visitor Center, and numerous natural and historical resources along the Rappahannock River in the Falmouth Historic District. The trail will also become an invaluable tourism asset that will create new economic development opportunities for Stafford County and the region.
Supervisor Snellings and I celebrated the end of “Summer Reading Days” at the England Run Library on Wednesday, August 24th. There were great activities for the children, lots of volunteers and all in the spirit of encouraging reading. Our new library is a great resource for our community
Stafford County is the host location for the Babe Ruth League 13 and under South East regional baseball tournament. The Stafford Baseball League is the host league for the tournament that includes teams from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee. On Wednesday July 27 the league hosted opening ceremonies for the tournament. I was honored to be asked to speak on behalf of Stafford County. The field was filled with players from all of the teams. The tournament will be played from July 28th through July 31 at Mountain View High School and Colonial Forge High School. The winner of this tournament will move onto a national tournament.
I also take great pride in seeing a girl’s softball team from Stafford win the Virginia state tournament. The Stafford Thundercats are the 14 and under softball team from the Stafford Baseball League. They won the Virginia state tournament earlier this month. I remain thankful to my fellow Board of Supervisors members who supported allowing the Stafford Baseball League to take on the administration of the girls softball program in Stafford County.

I was honored to speak on behalf of the Board of Supervisors at the Business Appreciation Lunch held at Riverside Theater on Thursday May 5th. We joined the Economic Development Authority in saluting area businesses. It was a packed house and we celebrated job and business growth in Stafford, as well as acknowledged how grateful we are to the “job creators” and entrepreneurs who keep our economic engine so strong. The Board of Supervisors will continue to set policy that will help foster a business-friendly environment. We salute Stafford businesses!
